Awake to the smell of the salt sea air, grab your towel and head down the path to the magnificant sandy beach for a dip in the warmest waters north of the Carolinas!

|
After entering Cape Breton Island from the Canso Causeway, a 35 minute drive north along Route 19, the 'Ceilidh Trail' (the scenic route to the Cabot Trail) will take you to the village of Port Hood. There you will find a relaxing taste of life by the sea and the 'Lighthouse Cottages', its name reminding us of the golden age of sailing ships that Port Hood was an important part of. (See our 'History & Other Attractions' page) What a view from your cottage! The Northumberland Strait is stretched out before you and set like an emerald in the sparkling blue is Port Hood Island.
